Act 2
At some point during The Renaissance, Ikamai is depicted to be on the run and camping with The Vivifier, The Forgiven, and The Jagerman. She listens to one of Zekura's stories around a campfire: the tale of a king and an old lady that dutifully tends to a persimmon tree.
The king inquires about the peculiar activity and the old woman simply hands him a fruit. As he takes a bite, delighted by its taste, she tells him that the tree belonged to her lover, who would smile every time she ate the fruit. For this reason, she takes care of the tree as a way to preserve her lover's memory. The king, moved by the gesture and the sentiment behind it, decides to protect the persimmon tree at all costs.
As the story ends, Zekura tells Ikamai that "all persimmons in our world today come from those seeds".
