At some point during The Renaissance, Ikamai is depicted to be on the run and camping with [[Zekura Raines|The Vivifier]], [[Thesal Voorat|The Forgiven]], and [[Orthus Ferroo|The Jagerman]]. She listens to one of Zekura's stories around a campfire: the tale of a king and an old lady that dutifully tends to a persimmon tree.
At some point during the Renaissance, the Annalist was on the run and camping with [[Zekura Raines]], [[Thesal Voorat]], and [[the Jagerman]]. Though the group was facing precarious conditions at the time, she seemed to draw strength from the bonds she shared with those around her.
 
The king inquires about the peculiar activity and the old woman simply hands him a fruit. As he takes a bite, delighted by its taste, she tells him that the tree belonged to her lover, who would smile every time she ate the fruit. For this reason, she takes care of the tree as a way to preserve her lover's memory. The king, moved by the gesture and the sentiment behind it, decides to protect the persimmon tree at all costs.
 
As the story ends, Zekura tells Ikamai that "all persimmons in our world today come from those seeds". Ikamai her retelling by sharing that she is finally surrounded by those she loves and feels loved by in turn, and though their group is facing precarious conditions, they can sustain themselves on a feast of friendship.

Etymology

"Amalie" resembles Amélie, a French given name meaning "work", and may also be a reference to the film and musical Amélie, a story about a young girl who decides to change the lives of those around her for the better while struggling with her own isolation.

Biography

Early Life

According to Sova, she was held under forced labor and exploited for her unique abilities. Sova's hive contains many of her scrolls from the Renaissance, which she used as a memoir.

Act 2
