'''Murrit Turkin''', also known by his [[Skorpe]] handle, {{VE Quote|murrit|unclaspedKahuna}}, is one of the [[troll]]s in ''[[Vast Error]]''. Her associated alchemic sigil is Lead and their horns are shaped like rods with flipped protrusions on the top. Upwards on the right and downwards on the left.

Murrit is based off of the "Incomprehensible Character Mess" fantroll archetype.

She was the fifth troll introduced and, as a Time player, one of the two players meant to usher [[The Game]] to its players along with the session's [[Laivan Ferroo|Space player]].

They were the fourth player to enter the game.

== Etymology ==
The word murrit, when translated from Basque, means 'die'. This may be a reference to his aspect, which is often associated with death. "Turkin" could be a reference to [[wikipedia:Valentin Turkin|Valentin Turkin (1887-1958)]], a Russian screenwriter and critic. This can be loosely related to Murrit's interests in pop culture and recording her friends' lives to make wacky compilation movies.

== Biography ==

=== Six Sweeps ===
In their youth, Murrit was a salesman who sold pieces of the [[Frog Temple]] near his [[Murrit's hive|hive]] for profit. Upon making a deal with [[White Noise]] to rebuild the temple and notify her group of friends after he finished, they were awakened on the moon of [[Derse]] where he was apprehended by a group of con men known as [[Dead Shufflers|The Dead Shufflers]] and held hostage against the [[Black Queen]]. The game's Jack Noir, known as [[Scathing Sharper]], took a liking to Murrit rather quickly and as such acted as a sort of mentor to her, teaching them how they operated and turning them into a feared member of their gang, and in his waking life, a feared member of the remaining sea troll hierarchy.

Some time afterward, Murrit sold the Shufflers out into servitude or hiding and completely changed his personality in some capacity before the events of the story began.
===Pre-Game===
On the night of the game Murrit spends most of his time organizing and pushing people to go along with his plans, as well as playing [[Anthropormuncipality]] with [[Laivan Ferroo|a friend]]. They are first seen speaking with [[Tazsia|Taz]], trying to get her to listen to them about what's been set in motion. After Taz leaves the conversation and attempts to ignore what he said, Murrit messages Dismas and tells him to go outside. After a bit of an argument, Dismas begrudgingly asks Murrit to restate their past: their history as a small game peddler of pieces of the Frog Temple, to the deal with White Noise, and then their recruitment into the folds of the Dead Shufflers. Dismas emerges from his hive and comes face to face with a Boobdrone, a breast-shaped robot short for "Based Occulatory Operating Buddy Drone"{{VE|266}}. Murrit attempts to make an unimpressed Dismas give him a high-four, then a fistbump, then a pinkie swear, to which Dismas retaliates with a middle finger. Murrit responds with a slap in the face, then tells Dismas to look up to see a giant meteor hurtling towards Repiton. After a moment of shock from Dismas, Murrit tells him to look up again to see his [[Lusus#Skulltitan lusus|lusus]], a giant Skulltitan, preparing to strike at Dismas with an atomic blast. He equips his strife specibus, [[2xdaggerkind]], and prepares to battle his guardian as Murrit records on the Boobdrone. Murrit checks on a certain [[Occeus Coliad|blue guy]] on her cameras before switching back to Skorpe, then checks out a [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubik%27s_Cube colorful cube] before being messaged about the game by [[Laivan Ferroo|Blue Dog]] and [[Calder Kerian|grandioseSaturation]], whom which he has a dry and antagonistic conversation with.

Murrit is then seen standing in front of his "hentai dungeon" after navigating through many self-constructed booby traps, aka the reconstructed Frog Temple which he immediately desecrated with the aforementioned pornography. Murrit examines the [[Narayan Code|runes]] carved into the walls of the temple, and then a giant closed flower pod on a pedestal. Being a bit too early for the big reveal, Murrit fetches their Doncamaticomp from their [[Sylladex#Surveillance|fetch modus]], answering a message from Laivan about the current state of preparation for the game. Murrit promises to play a game of Anthropormuncipality with Laivan and the countdown on the flower pod's pedestal ends. The flower opens and lets out a bright beam of light that splits into twelve, installing The Game on the main cast's computers.

Murrit is knocked onto his ass by the blossom and immediately messaged by Taz, angry at the game window currently taking up her screen and leaving her computer to do anything else but use Skorpe, having come to the conclusion that Murrit had something to do with it. Murrit, annoyed at Taz's refusal to listen, simply tells her to figure it out and ends the conversation.

Not soon after, Murrit sends a mass memo to the main cast (with the exception of [[Ellsee Raines|a troll he didn't deem important enough to receive the information]]) informing them of the nature of The Game. They receive a message from who they think to be Arcjec, though it's revealed to be [[Ellsee Raines|Ellsee]] messaging her through Arcjec's Skorpe account, demanding to know what was going on and why she was excluded. Murrit promptly tells her to go fuck herself, dropping his quirk. Murrit sharply tells her to stay away away from the rest of the cast and the game if she actually cares about any of them before ceasing to message a confused and peeved Ellsee.

During [S] Arcjec: Enter, Murrit is shown playing aforementioned rounds of Anthropormuncipality with Laivan as promised.

Murrit was included in Ellsee's memo, but immediately withdrew from it.

After the memo, Laivan messages Murrit asking if she's ready to play and why she left. Murrit tells him to just trust them and asks if Laivan's ready back.

The scene switches to Boobdrone harassing Dismas, half submerged in a stream, with its auto chatter function. After a nasty altercation with his lusus, Dismas comes out alive but with a broken arm and generally heavily injured. He is once again approached by the Boobdrone, now being piloted by Murrit. Dismas tells Murrit that he's officially out of commission on the count of his broken arm, which his healing factor can't immediately fix like the rest of him. Dismas calls Murrit out for nearly getting him killed for his sick little videos, complaining about their (recently exacerbated) tendency to act oblivious to the consequences of their actions. Murrit asks if he wants an apology, catching Dismas off guard, but he states that he knows better than to expect more from the seadweller. In an effort to make Dismas feel better and get him to move, he brings Dismas' moirail into a [[Skorpe]] call, [[Jentha Briati]]. An upset and frantic Jentha asks Murrit about Dismas' wellbeing, as Murrit had told her that he had been killed to get her to join said call. Dismas comforts Jentha and she tries to get a better understanding of the situation, as Murrit had failed to explain anything clearly to her, as usual.

Murrit states she's ready for Dismas to act as his server player for the game. Dismas and Jentha tells Murrit to fuck off on the count of Dismas' condition and Murrit being entirely at fault for it. Murrit tells them she's hatched a plan to get Dismas back to his hive, as they have another Boobdrone push an ore-powered minecart onto the nearby rails.

Dismas and Jentha do not like Murrit's plan, and point out a number of its flaws. Dismas brings up [[Albion Shukra|Albion]], who had appeared to not be acting like herself and was being abnormally cryptic (unbeknownst to him, she had been possessed by her [[Ancestors|Ancestor]]), but Murrit dismisses this and states that she appears to be acting normally. Jentha points out that Dismas' [[lusus]] is likely back in Dismas' hive, but Murrit tells her that it's under control. Finally Dismas reminds Murrit that his computer has been damaged and will likely be unable to run the game properly. Murrit tells Dismas that they will just have to work as a team to get the job done. Resentful, but seeing no other options, Dismas reluctantly agrees with the plan. Dismas is lifted onto the cart by the drone, sets the carrier's speed to max and proceeds to MELT TRACK with the Boobdrone in tow.

On the sandy beach in front of her hive, Murrit's entrance into the game is put in jeopardy. Her paragon repository is trapped in a cube of ice, unable to be melted in time to release her [[Denizen]] before the meteor hits. Suddenly, the ice block and the hourglass inside it shatter, unleashing the [[Gusion|Denizen of Time]] inside. As Murrit rushes into the portal after him, [[Weird Al|two]] [[Edolon Vryche|characters]] are shown, one with [[Narayan Code|symbols]] in the color of the [[Aspect#Time|Time aspect]] on his palms.

After his entry, Murrit is shown having an argument with [[Metatron]] regarding of the Game and White Noise on the [[Land of Wave and Record]] as his [[consorts]] watch. Murrit questions Metatron's ties to White Noise, asking if they weren't playing their part in setting up the game correctly, citing his view on killing off [[Ellsee Raines|a part of the group]] to keep the rest of them safe. Metatron replies that if they'd actually kill her, their entire session would fail, to which Murrit replies that he wasn't made aware of. Metatron presses Murrit to describe what he saw, accompanied by a flashback: Ellsee preforming a ritual gone wrong, and a warning to fear what was coming, shown in [S] WHAT DID YOU DO TO THEM.

=== Post EOA2 ===
In the reopened memo, Murrit ignores multiple tags from [[Arcjec Voorat|Arcjec]] only to respond at the last minute with deflective bullshit, then banning themself from the memo to avoid further questioning. She's then shown bringing several personal items onto her planet via Boobdrones (and thus instantly breaking Arcjec's rule to only go back to Repiton if necessary) while having a conversation with [[Tee Hanos]], one of his [[Planets|planet]]'s [[consorts]]. Tee Hanos reveals Murrit's responsibility of the ruination of the [[Land of Wave and Record]], giving a warning that if they didn't undo the damage, the platypus consorts would have his head.

==Personality and Traits==
Murrit is a troll with a complex and overly esoteric personality, being generally hard to decipher due to his penchant for misdirecting and confusing people on purpose. He presents an over-the-top front of being a skeevy and perverted troll with a love of all forms of debauchery. She deliberately speaks in a way that is annoying, slang-filled and inconsistent that often leaves the people he interacts with confused and frustrated. Not much is known about their actual personality, to the point that Murrit themself may not be sure of their true interests and demeanor. However, he has been shown to be serious and aggressive when provoked by someone who he thinks is a threat.

Murrit has little to no interest in the hierarchy of blood-castes and sea-dweller nobility. She finds both concepts completely irrelevant and outdated on a dying planet with a critically endangered sea-dweller population (to the frustration of a [[Calder Kerian|certain other magenta-blooded troll]]). True to this disdain for the pecking order, Murrit tries to (mis)treat everyone equally, rarely giving anyone any special treatment.

Among Murrit's interests are collecting ancient media (but especially televisions and video tapes), spying on his friends and collecting video footage of their mistakes so that he can make wacky videos, playing [[Anthropormuncipality]] with Laivan, robotics, antagonizing/helping Dismas, and pretending to be into hentai.

Murrit seems to be proficient in using a [[wikipedia:Novation Digital Music Systems|launchpad]], though theirs is just loaded with a bunch of weird sound effects, including one of just a scream that he listens to for minutes at a time.

In the past, Murrit had behaved more in-line with the supposed standards of his blood caste, but has since abandoned that version of themself.

==Relationships==

===Dismas Mersiv===
Murrit and [[Dismas Mersiv|Dismas]] have been in a [[Quadrants#Kismesissitude.2FCaliginous Quadrant .E2.99.A0|kismesissitude]] for at least around two sweeps, and share the standard, mutually antagonistic relationship with one another. Murrit somehow gained and still owns Dismas's soul after an online poker game{{VE|144}} and the two worked as partners in a presumably illegal capacity in the past. It is inferred that the work wasn't negotiable and a lot of murder was involved.

Murrit appears to take a tough-love stance towards Dismas, regularly helping Dismas in a roundabout, incomprehensible manner through the use of his Boobdrone and in person. Dismas generally acts like he's completely tired of Murrit's bullshit, but goes along with it anyway and does seem to be able to talk to him without resorting to usual rival-istic behavior. Murrit has been shown to be physically aggressive with Dismas at least through the use of Boobdrone, but this may be a form of hate-flirting or a one time action on her part.

Murrit has also been confirmed to have a flushed crush on Dismas<ref>[http://vasterror.tumblr.com/post/178239638154/hey-there-just-wanted-to-say-that-i-really]</ref>, however, due to the gravity of this fact and her fear of ruining their relationship due to Repiton's romantic social and cultural norms, Murrit keeps it a secret.

===Jentha Briati ===
Like most people, [[Jentha Briati|Jentha]] finds Murrit to be obnoxious and annoying, but is further made more uncomfortable by their demeanor due to her anxiety issues and panic attacks. [[Jentha Briati|Jentha]] seems to be forceful and willing to put her foot down when interacting with Murrit on the behalf of her moirail, and outright insults and calls out the seadweller when he's acting especially terrible, a possible result of [[Dismas Mersiv|Dismas']] influence. Despite this, she doesn't seem to hate Murrit by any means and just seems to think of her as a 'stupidhead'.

=== Laivan Ferroo===
[[Laivan Ferroo|Laivan]] is one of Murrit's closest friends, with the two sharing a passion for Anthropormuncipality and a destiny in leading everyone to play the game they recovered from the Frog Temple. Laivan is one of the few trolls who isn't put off by Murrit's bizarre quirks and even jokingly calls them out on it. Murrit is often more honest around Laivan in turn and does not seem to harass him as harshly as some others, even though he isn't free from it either.

===Tazsia Poemme===
[[Tazsia Poemme|Taz]] is one of the few trolls to not be immediately put off by Murrit's scummy, perverted façade, to the point that she's actually somewhat fond of the sea-dweller. Despite this, Taz will not put up with any of Murrit's bullshit and is ready to drop her ass whenever he's not being helpful. Murrit on the other hand enjoys toying with Taz and her temper, but does try his best to actually be useful to her once in a while as well. Though they also have their tipping point and have left Taz on her ass just as badly as she has done to him.

This nicer relationship is however, undercut by his constant mention and nicknaming of Taz's breasts in their conversations -- something that Taz surprisingly doesn't seem to get onto him about as much as you'd think she would.

===Ellsee Raines ===
Due to Murrit's viewing of an occult ritual to contact her parents, Murrit greatly dislikes [[Ellsee Raines|Ellsee]], and distrusts her even more so, to the point that Murrit actively tries to keep Ellsee out of the game and threatens her. [[Ellsee Raines|Ellsee]] is the only troll who Murrit has referred to by name, rather than a double entendre-rifled, reference-heavy, or insulting nickname.

===Calder Kerian===
Murrit does not like [[Calder Kerian|Calder]] at all. Murrit makes a huge point of annoying or ignoring Calder whenever possible, even basing their "love" and persistence of enjoying hentai to mock his male-centric ideals and hoity toity attitude. Conversely, Calder is frustrated with Murrit's refusal to behave like a proper sea dweller, and regularly tries to boss Murrit around, even though he at one point deeply respected him.

=== Arcjec Voorat ===
[[Arcjec Voorat|Arcjec]] generally dislikes interacting with Murrit, but appears to trust her regardless, believing him to not be a liar, at least in regards to The Game. Murrit is apparently fond of Arcjec, finding him to be fun and easy to provoke. Arcjec thinks Murrit is generally very bad at explaining things.

=== White Noise===
Murrit met [[White Noise]] at least two sweeps prior to the events of the Game. White Noise had approached the destined Time player in her dreams and gave her the choice of whether to pursue his destiny or not, clearly outlining the conditions of such a contact would require of Murrit and what it would give Murrit in return. Murrit having been an accomplished gambler and con-man at the time could quickly tell that White Noise was no swindler and was not one to be swindled either. Interested in the prospect of finding their ideal self, Murrit accepted and has worked in tandem with [[Laivan Ferroo|Laivan]] to fulfill his end of the bargain with White Noise ever since. As part of their deal, Murrit's [[Dream Self]] awoke on [[Derse]], and they've dreamed on Derse ever since.

=== The Dead Shufflers===
Murrit was once a member of the [[Dead Shufflers]]. After she awoke on Derse, his [[Dreamself]] was kidnapped by the group in hopes of using him as leverage against the Dersite royalty. However, when their leader, the [[Scathing Sharper]] took a liking to the young Murrit, he invited the seadweller into their fold. Murrit was a natural fit for the cut throat group, and began taking on their activities in his real life as well. However, Murrit eventually lost interest in that kind of life, and sold the group out. She hasn't looked back since.

*Murrit's Skorpe handle, {{VE Quote|murrit|unclaspedKahuna}}, is a blatant reference to his played up obsession with breasts. 'unclasped' means something 'revealed' or 'undressed'; 'kahuna' is a euphemism for breasts. The Hawaiian word also ties into their "tropical" design.
*His drones known as Boobdrones, are short for: Based Occulatory Operating Buddy Drone. They also all have functions that, when set on auto-pilot, do different things. The one that Murrit sent out to Dismas in [[Vast Error: Act 1|Act 1]] says random factoids about female troll chests.

== Personality and Traits ==
Rypite is good at making an impression, with the voice of an anchorman and the charisma of a successful businessman. He comes off as a stereotypical "Cool Boss," being very upbeat and empathetic. His level of empathy could be considered extreme, however, mourning the loss of inanimate objects as if they were people. This level of empathy can also interfere with his job, inspiring him to temporarily skip work to console his matesprit or erase important work near a deadline to make room for a brainstorming session with [[Secily Iopara|Secily]].

Rypite's mind seems to be all over the place, coming up with various ideas at once and having to write most on colorful post-it notes as not to forget.

He lives his life through motivational speeches and sayings, frequently quoting (and misquoting) inspirational phrases to others and himself. He also has a love for wordplay and dad jokes. He generally aims to keep conversations light and friendly, going so far as to stall for time when he feels as if he isn't going to like what he's about to hear.

Rypite is incredibly passionate about practically every aspect of his life, including but not limited to his job, his soulmates, his lusus, his friends, weather and outer space. He has a hard time choosing favorites, as they all rank {{VE Quote|rypite|#1 on [his] list of Favorite Things!}}

[[Sirage Feltri|Sirage]] is Rypite's matesprit, and the two are a very happy couple. Rypite adores Sirage to pieces and gushes about her frequently, keeping pictures of her in his office and on his Skorpe theme. Despite fearing the consequences of doing so, he was more than happy to come back from work breaks late to spend time comforting and encouraging her while she was stressed.

Despite appearing as such, his blood is not the fuchsia blood of the designated ruling class of trolls, but is a similar, but ultimately distinct Magenta color.

He was the ninth troll introduced and the third troll introduced in [[Vast Error: Act 2|Act 2]], however he made several appearances throughout [[Vast Error: Act 1|Act 1]]. He was the eleventh troll to enter the game.

He is particularly focused on proper conduct and presenting himself as a proper sea-dweller to establish superiority. He persistently projects these ideals onto [[Murrit Turkin|Murrit]], who had once been his picture of what a proper sea-dweller should be like.

Being the descendant of [[Ancestors|the troll that decimated the sea dweller population out of jealousy]], Calder is considered a social pariah by association. He feels an immense obligation to do his part to undo the damage done by his ancestor's atrocities and help reestablish order. As such, Calder obsessed with the continued existence of the sea dwelling trolls, and in becoming a leading force on Repiton. He works to increase his influence by publishing the politically-charged and intentionally morally-provocative Sideline magazine, but he hasn't been personally involved in its production in some time.

Calder has a long list of strained and bitterly-ended relationships, quadrant relationships or otherwise. Judging from the old portraits of these old friends and loved ones on the walls of his hive, and the bitterness he shows when reflecting on these past relationships, Calder is unable to move on any of it.

Calder at one point deeply respected Murrit, back when he acted more in line with the expectations of a sea-dweller, and Calder tries to make Murrit behave in his old manner, to no avail.

When Jentha was younger, she met [[Dismas Mersiv]] during his time in school after he was sent to detention for a fight with [[Murrit Turkin]]. Instead of being connected with a teacher to write an apology note, [[The Principal]] connects Dismas with Jentha and they have a conversation beginning with Jentha, most likely the first Jentha has ever had with a troll her own age at the time, in which she begins by correcting Dismas' typing errors. At some point, Dismas refused to end her life, and eventually the two '''{{VE Quote|wn|found solace in each other}}''', entering a [[Quadrants#Moirallegiance.2FPale Quadrant .E2.99.A6|moirallegiance]].

During the events of {{VE|310|2=[S] Arcjec: Enter.}}, Jentha is shown looking at her laptop in distress as the Game installs itself on her machine. She does not feature in any of the Act's pesterlogs.

Jentha's first spoken line happens during one of [[Ellsee Raines|Ellsee Raines's]] memos, {{VE Quote|ellsee|Rinkadink Thinking TimΣ}}, when Jentha accidentally sends the letter "h" into the chat. The two have a humorous exchange in which Jentha silences and unsilences herself multiple times, before she finally bans herself from the memo altogether.

After her introduction, Jentha is interrupted from watching [[Turnin Kaikai|a stream]] when [[Occeus Coliad]] messages her, seeking advice about his personal woes. Jentha bluntly tells him to leave her alone, as his issues are not her concern, though Occeus takes it as heartfelt advice and thanks her for letting him know he was being selfish. Their conversation is interrupted by a short transmission from [[Hamifi Hekrix]], Occeus's superior, in which she removes him from the [[Repiton Corporation|Corporate]] payroll. Crestfallen, Occeus goes back to Jentha, telling her that he may have finally hit rock bottom. Jentha is confused, but Occeus is pulled away before he can respond.

Later, she is brought into a Skorpe call with Dismas and Murrit after her moirail's altercation with his [[Lusus#Skulltitan_lusus|skulltitan lusus]], Murrit having sent her into a panic by claiming that Dismas was dead. Dismas calms Jentha down and explains his condition, downplaying his injuries somewhat, and the pair have an exchange where he tries to reassure Jentha about her [[The Game|Game]] related worries. Murrit then interrupts them with his loud video mashups and states that he's ready for Dismas to act as his server player, a suggestion which Dismas and Jentha are outraged by, both due to Dismas' condition and Murrit being entirely at fault for it. The seadweller manages to talk Dismas into listening to him, despite Jentha's protests: he tells them that he's hatched a plan to get Dismas back to his hive using an ore-powered minecart by the nearby rails.

Jentha and Dismas are skeptical, but Dismas concedes, due to a lack of options and Murrit's reassurances that things are {{VE Quote|murrit|>([under control]}}. Dismas is then deposited into the cart and proceeds to {{VE Quote|wn|MELT TRACK}}, boobdrone in tow.

During {{VE|641|2=[S] Engage.}}, Jentha yells at Murrit for throwing Dismas down a ladder and putting her moirail in danger with their plan, but she is smugly ignored.

Later, Jentha tries to assist [[Sova Amalie]] with her entry, whacking the [[Homunculi|inky creatures]] who are harassing her with some of the Game's pillars in an effort to drive them away. Panicked, Jentha messages Occeus to ask for help and apologize for her earlier behavior, but her attention is drawn away before he can respond: a glowing light shines behind her, taking the form of [[Af]], the [[Denizen]] of Light, much to her starstruck wonder and the annoyance of [[White Noise]], who bemoans the denizen's tendency to "go off script".

During the events of {{VE|1000|2=[S] Ellsee: Enter.}}, Jentha is led through an ancient ruined town as Af sets up her portal for her. They activate it, prompting Jentha to follow, and she is taken into her fully formed land, a planet comprised of grassy fields with yellow flowers and bright blue skies. Her platform and talk with her denizen are not shown.

[[Dismas Mersiv|Dismas]] and Jentha are in a moirallegiance, and their relationship is notably Jentha's only known committed relationship. Despite being anxiety-ridden and constantly struggling to get her thoughts into words, she much calmer when in Dismas' presence, and he's very good at intuitively understanding her feelings. The two are very close and openly worry for the other's well being.

Dismas also provides for Jentha's material needs, as her anxiety has stopped her from being able to find a source of income on her own, a fact she is extremely grateful of.

===Murrit Turkin===
Jentha is often frustrated and distrustful of [[Murrit Turkin|Murrit]], due to his frequent antagonization of Dismas. She finds them to be obnoxious and annoying, but seems to have no problem with putting her foot down on behalf of her moirail when she feels the situation calls for it, outright insulting and calling the seadweller out whenever they act particularly terrible. Despite this, she doesn't seem to truly hate Murrit, thinking of her as an overbearing "stupidhead" rather than a malicious person.

===Occeus Coliad===
[[Occeus Coliad|Occeus]] is Jentha's server player. She doesn't care much about him, having told him to go "jump off a cliff" when he came to her in distress. Occeus doesn't seem to pick up on the fact she's intentionally rude toward him, interpreting her snide comments as genuine, heartfelt advice. Despite her demeanor, he seems to put trust into Jentha, and when under enough stress, Jentha admits that she needs his help and feels guilty about being rude toward him before.

===Sova Amalie===
[[Sova Amalie|Sova]] is Jentha's client player. Not much is known about their relationship, though they have cooperated during Sova's entry process. '''Occeus Coliad''', also known by his [[Skorpe]] handle, {{VE Quote|occeus|macabreExude}}, is one of the [[troll]]s in ''[[Vast Error]]''. His associated alchemical sigil is Sulfur and his horns are in the shape of small crowns.

Occeus is based upon the 'Mad Scientist' archetype,<ref>{{CiteSocial|tumblr|whosaid=vasterror|link=https://vasterror.tumblr.com/faq}}</ref> despite not seeming to truly fit the label. He has many references to 'Frankenstein' based on his character, the obvious example being the naming of his assistant, [[Rogi]]. Which is simply 'Igor', the assistant to Victor Frankenstein, spelled backwards.

His visor is made specifically to cover up his third eye that formed after a major traumatic incident in his past. This third eye allows him to momentarily see into alternate dimensions, seeing vague figures and apparitions out of his peripheral vision. He sees more when he makes a conscious effort to contact the dimensions directly. He can also constantly hear the low buzzing of [[The Static|static]] in the back of his mind, but it doesn't bother him so long as he doesn't think about it. He was the eighth troll introduced and the second troll introduced in [[Vast Error: Act 2|Act 2]]. He was also the tenth troll to enter the game.

Occeus also stars in his own route in ''[[Snowbound Blood]]'', being the only troll of the main 12 to be featured in the [[Trollodex]].

Occeus likely comes from Oculus, the Latin word for eye, befitting of his mutation.

Coliad likely comes from Coliadinae, a subfamily of butterflies also known as sulphurs, which matches his alchemical sigil.

== Biography ==

=== Pre-game ===
Not much is currently known about Occeus before the story begins. However, it has been said in his intro page that he got his Transmuted Epiphysis Cerebri (Third Eye) from a major traumatic event that happened when Occeus was 7 sweeps old.

Occeus is first seen finally contacting [[Ellsee Raines|Ellsee]] after she messaged him many days prior. The two discuss the implications of a possible breakthrough in is work, while Occeus apologizes for not giving Ellsee enough attention. Ellsee voices her support in Occeus's scientific pursuits while Occeus emphasizes the importance of the work he does and that the time he spends away from her will have been for the greater good as he plans reinvigorate their world. This conversation would leave Ellsee feeling needy and unlikable.

Occeus is next seen performing a revitalization experiment on a [[Minor Characters#Lipsen Fluxum|deceased troll]], which results in a partial success—the experiment revitalized him but the troll remains unintelligent and aggressive. This forces Occeus solemnly to eliminate the troll and mark the current experiment as a failure. He takes a moment to check his computer once again while Rogi disposes of the corpse. He finds a series of messages from a distressed Ellsee. Occeus attempts to comfort Ellsee as she details what she had just gone through earlier in the story.

After Occeus had messaged her, Ellsee had gone to attempt meeting up with [[Arcjec Voorat|Arcjec]], only to see a meteor hurtling towards his hive. She had apparently found the hive in shambles and on fire, yet not completely destroyed from the meteor, with Arcjec mysteriously absent from the building. In searching for Arcjec, Ellsee had found a mass memo sent out by [[Murrit Turkin|Murrit]] pertaining to a mysterious reality-bending game that everyone was involved in (but Murrit had intentionally excluded Ellsee for reasons unknown). Ellsee had then returned to her hive and reached out to Occeus to inform him of the memo as well, knowing that he probably hasn't seen it.

Occeus reads the mass memo that Murrit had written after doubting its contents and is distressed at the absurdity, yet possible reality of the situation presented by [[The Game]]. It necessitating their leaving of [[Repiton]] would end up making his efforts to save it completely irrelevant. Having learned that he's meant to work with [[Calder Kerian|Calder]] in the game along with this, an outraged Occeus messages the sea dweller. Calder tersely tells Occeus that he's no more involved in the situation than Occeus is, and that they are both powerless to do anything but go along with it. Calder tells Occeus that he will message him again when it's their turn to enter the game even though he too is less than happy with that arrangement, and ceases messaging a fuming Occeus.

Occeus is included in Ellsee's memo, but does not respond to it.

He was later seen after he contacts Jentha, who asks an advice from her as a transmission coming from [[Hamifi Hekrix|Hamifi]] suddenly pops up. Occeus engages in a tense conversation with her as Hamifi reminds him that his recent experiments had been dropping for the past few months and if those failures continue, Corporate have no choice but to drop it and give him his payroll.

As the transmission ends, he messages Jentha again telling her that he may have finally reach in his lowest point.

Occeus is included in another memo, this time it's made by Arcjec, but doesn't respond to it.

He was later seen slumped down on his supercomputer as he deals with the buzzing in the back of his mind as the Game's cursor, controlled by Calder, drags him out of his laboratory until they reached the front door as Occeus' lusus attacks the incoming creatures.

In {{VE|1000|[S<nowiki>]</nowiki> Ellsee: Enter.}}, Occeus was seen outside of his hive as his lusus devours the deceased creatures as the buzzing repeats and saw his personal codes. He then summons out his strife specibus, [[Laserkind]], and slices the cross with a Blood symbol engraved on its chest, landing on top of the hive. The portal activates as the cursor drags him inside, along with his assistant.

Neither his land or denizen meeting platform are shown.

Shortly after entering the game, he meets [[Wormwood|his denizen]] who he states {{VE Quote|Occeus|didn't seem t.oo. keen ab.o.ut my presence}} and only refers to him as "Prince", along with calling Occeus "a distruption". This causes Occeus to begin reflecting, and to later send a monologue to [[Ellsee Raines|Ellsee]] apologizing for his behavior and expressing eagerness to see her again, after facing challenges in his land.

== Personality and traits ==
As a scientist and engineer, Occeus is characterized by his empirical outlook on life and how it works. He is ambitious, yet detached, and fiercely dedicated to his work, seeming to doubt himself outside of it.

He works towards the continued survival of his decaying planet and towards undoing the parasitic undead plague that ravages its population in the hope that he can return souls from a supposed entropy, and find the secret of untethered immortality.

Occeus states that he does not understand other people, nor does he feel that they understand him<ref>https://www.deconreconstruction.com/vasterror/1814</ref>, feeling painfully aware of his inability to help people outside of his work as well as do anything aside from what he's been instructed to.

[[Rogi]] is Occeus' assistant in his scientific pursuits. The creature was the result of one of Occeus' failed experiments, and is consequently unintelligent and largely useless as a result. However, Occeus doesn't seem to mind so much, and keeps the creature around to help with the grizzlier, more menial parts of his experiments, or perhaps because he appreciates the creature's company.

Due to the unnatural circumstances of Rogi's existence, Rogi's body is unable to maintain itself and requires regular injection of lime blood to continue existing.

=== Ellsee Raines ===
[[Ellsee Raines|Ellsee]] and Occeus are [[Quadrants|matesprits]], and unique to the other relationships in the cast aside from [[Murrit Turkin|Murrit]] and [[Dismas Mersiv|Dismas]] and [[Serpaz Helilo|Serpaz]] and [[Laivan Ferroo|Laivan]], have been sexually intimate with one another.

Due to Occeus' workaholic nature and his desperation to preserve his planet, Occeus is unfortunately rather neglectful of Ellsee, leaving her to suffer from symptoms not unlike withdrawal in his absence (as is the case for Repitonian trolls who have been intimate with another and do not see each other for extended periods of time). Occeus regrets this, and realizes that Ellsee deserves better, but will nonetheless prioritize his work over her, until being fired by [[Hamifi Hekrix|Hamifi]] and entering the game, where he apologizes in monologue form.

In this monologue, Occeus references past events in which [[Ellsee Raines|Ellsee]] breaks her code of conduct to save and care for him.

Ellsee often volunteers the use of her lime blood for Occeus to use in his biological experiments, due to the blood's unique life-bearing properties. Occeus is the only troll that Ellsee trusts with her blood.

He is incredibly protective of Ellsee, as evidenced in his ''Snowbound Blood'' route when he tells Secily {{VE Quote|occeus|Then eye will either kill f.o.r her .o.r die f.o.r her right t.o. be free}} when Secily confronts him about the vials of blood.

It has been shown that Occeus and [[Calder Kerian|Calder]] had a -- now-ended—pale relationship with one another. From Calder's account, it appears that Occeus abruptly ended their relationship and has been distant from Calder for some time. Calder is visibly bitter about it.

* 'macabre' in his trolltag is a reference to his interest in most things relating to death, such as his reanimation experiments, his study of parasites, and his ultimate goal of trying to 'reanimate' the planet. 'Exude' could be a reference to his normal methods of injecting lime blood into corpses, due to its meaning of a slow and steady discharge. Altogether, the tag can refer to his disturbing presence as a whole.
* The '.o.' shape replacing any 'o's in his text is a reference to his three-eyed state, with the two periods being his regular eyes and the 'o' representing his third eye. This places more emphasis on his third eye as opposed to his two regular eyes which could be a way of showing how Occeus is neglecting the mundane things around him in favor of pursuing mysteries and his work. This neglect is clearly shown in Ellsee's state of withdrawal without his presence, as per their coupling.
* The pupil of his Third Eye bears a striking resemblance to that of [[Gaiaeon]]. It is unknown what exactly this means or if they share any sort of connection.
