Jentha was believed to have been born without any [[Hemospectrum#Biological Aspects|survival abilities]] typical to yellowbloods, a fact that has contributed to her general feelings of helplessness and vulnerability.

She was the twelfth troll introduced and the ninth troll to enter the game.

==Biography==

===Early life===
Jentha's early life is revealed in a flashback segment in Act 3 Act 1. Jentha was kept in high-level containment due to her extremely powerful survival ability, which allowed her to discharge and manipulate nuclear energy inherent to her cells{{VE|1911}}. At an early age, it discharged automatically, prompting the reduplication cavern staff to keep her separate from other trolls her age, something that [[The Principal]] sought to make up for in some way{{VE|1920}}.

Jentha met [[Dismas Mersiv]] during his time in school after he was sent to detention for a fight with [[Murrit Turkin]]. Instead of being connected with a teacher to write an apology note, the Principal connects Dismas with Jentha and they have {{VE|1926|a conversation}}, most likely the first Jentha has ever had with a troll her own age at the time, which she begins by correcting Dismas's typing errors. The two grew close over these messages, leading Dismas to recruit [[Albion Shukra]] in a mission to get Jentha out of her mould and take her to the playgrounds. On their way, it is revealed that Murrit had been tailing them the whole time, taking necessary steps to ensure they weren't caught by acting from the shadows. He uses this as leverage to convince them to let him join them, to which they all reluctantly agree.

After playing for some time, Murrit pushes Dismas off a construct, greatly upsetting Jentha and causing her survival ability to explode due to her lack of control over her emotions{{VE|1968}}. This causes a massive incident that results in the deaths of several students and staff at the hands of a [[Lusus#Skulltitan_lusus|skulltitan]], whom Jentha inadvertently grants power with her nuclear energy. Dismas distracts the lusus from attacking Jentha in a show of grubhood bravery as the Principal arrives to resolve the situation. Dismas is sent off to the dunes with the skulltitan through an application of [[Alchemy|Space alchemy]], and Jentha is put to sleep by another type of alchemy.

Following the incident, priority was set on repressing Jentha's survival ability as hard as possible, leaving her severely traumatized and disabled (eyesight issues, a stutter, debilitating anxiety and depression). Once she reached six sweeps, she was sent off to live in an apartment in Stronghold 21 before deciding to instead wander the world for anywhere to fit in. She settled in the utopian ruins of [[The Renaissance]], the same place turned to ash by [[Mosura Briati|her ancestor]] sweeps prior, where she meets a [[Lusus#Metamorphier lusus|metamorphier lusus]] that takes her in. The lusus weaves a cocoon for themself shortly after, and is yet to emerge.{{VE|2051}}

Jentha, all alone with nothing left, had already resigned herself to the fact that she was going to die alone before Dismas was led right to her by Murrit under the guise of an assassination mission. ===Act 2===
Jentha's first spoken line happens during one of [[Ellsee Raines|Ellsee Raines's]] memos, {{VE Quote|ellsee|Rinkadink Thinking TimΣ}}{{VE|448}}, when Jentha accidentally sends the letter "h" into the chat. The two have a humorous exchange in which Jentha silences and unsilences herself multiple times, before she finally bans herself from the memo altogether.

After her proper introduction, Jentha is interrupted from watching [[Turnin Kaikai|a stream]] when [[Occeus Coliad]] messages her, seeking advice about his personal woes. Later, she is brought into a Skorpe call with Dismas and Murrit after her moirail's altercation with his [[Lusus#Skulltitan_lusus|lusus]], Murrit having sent her into a panic by claiming that Dismas was dead. Dismas calms Jentha down and Jentha berates Murrit for their behavior as Murrit loads Dismas onto an ore-powered minecart to get him back to his hive in time to be their server player.

Later, Jentha tries to assist [[Sova Amalie]] with her entry, whacking the [[Homunculi|inky creatures]] who are harassing her with some of the Game's pillars in an effort to drive them away. Panicked, Jentha messages Occeus to ask for help , but her attention is drawn away before he can respond: a glowing light shines behind her, taking the form of [[Af]], the [[Denizen]] of Light, much to her starstruck wonder and the annoyance of [[White Noise]], who bemoans the denizen's tendency to "go off script".

During the events of {{VE|1000|2=[S] Ellsee: Enter.}}, Jentha is led through utopian ruins as Af sets up her portal for her. They activate it, prompting Jentha to follow, and she is taken into her fully formed [[Land of Tall Grass and Sunflowers|land]], a planet comprised of grassy fields with yellow flowers and bright blue skies. Her platform and talk with her denizen are not shown.

===Act 3 Act 1===
Jentha wanders her planet only to find no possible means of progress, {{VE|1895|finally relenting and asking Af for assistance}}. They talk at length about Jentha's land and the fact that it was designed with no way to progress intentionally, as Jentha's quest will be much different from everyone else's. Af plans to give Jentha the final land quest task right out the gate and allow Jentha to achieve [[Pure Self|self-actualization]] much sooner than everyone else.

Af proceeds to remark on the traumatic nature of Jentha's past, something she had seemingly either forgotten about or chose to pretend never happened, which segues directly into her recollecting her {{VE|1907|aforementioned backstory}}.

==Personality and Traits==
Jentha is a reserved and anxious troll who lives closed off to the outside world, being described by White Noise as {{VE Quote|wn|incredibly hard to find on many occasions}}. Her lost survival ability coupled with the absent nature of her lusus have left her with a persistent feeling of helplessness and uselessness. Nonetheless, she tends to be bitter and insulting when talking to most people, possibly as a way to overcompensate for her anxiety - a fact which she's shown being regretful of on certain occasions. Jentha often tries to be as unpleasant to talk to as possible when she wants to be left alone, which is a fairly common occurrence, as Jentha has thin patience for people that are not Dismas.

She collects and cares for "outcast" toys, notably a collection of [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furby furbies]. ===Dismas Mersiv===
[[Dismas Mersiv|Dismas]] and Jentha are in a moirallegiance, and their relationship is notably Jentha's only known committed relationship. Despite being anxiety-ridden and constantly struggling to get her thoughts into words, she is much calmer when in Dismas' presence, and he is very good at intuitively understanding her feelings. The two are very close and openly worry for the other's well being.

Dismas also provides for Jentha's material needs, as her anxiety has stopped her from being able to find a source of income on her own, a fact she is extremely grateful of.

===Murrit Turkin===
Jentha is often frustrated and distrustful of [[Murrit Turkin|Murrit]], due to his frequent antagonization of Dismas. She finds them to be obnoxious and annoying, but seems to have no problem with putting her foot down on behalf of her moirail when she feels the situation calls for it, outright insulting and calling the seadweller out whenever they act particularly terrible. Despite this, she doesn't seem to truly hate Murrit, thinking of her as an overbearing "stupidhead" rather than a malicious person.

===Occeus Coliad===
[[Occeus Coliad|Occeus]] is Jentha's server player. She doesn't care much for him, having told him to go "jump off a cliff" when he came to her in distress. Occeus doesn't seem to pick up on the fact she's intentionally rude toward him, interpreting her snide comments as genuine, heartfelt advice. Despite her demeanor, he seems to put trust into Jentha, and when under enough stress, Jentha admits that she needs his help and feels guilty about being rude toward him before.

===Sova Amalie===
[[Sova Amalie|Sova]] is Jentha's client player. Not much is known about their relationship, though they have cooperated during Sova's entry process. Sova has shown concern for Jentha even when being brushed off, and Jentha has snidely referred to Sova as {{VE Quote|jentha|the one who c cares so much about e everyone}}.

'''Occeus Coliad''', also known by his [[Skorpe]] handle, {{VE Quote|occeus|macabreExude}}, is one of the [[troll]]s in ''[[Vast Error]]''. His associated alchemical sigil is Sulfur and his horns are in the shape of small crowns.

Occeus is a deconstruction of the 'Mad Scientist' archetype,<ref>{{CiteSocial|tumblr|whosaid=vasterror|link=https://vasterror.tumblr.com/faq}}</ref> despite not seeming to truly fit the label. He has many references to 'Frankenstein' based on his character, the obvious example being the naming of his assistant, [[Rogi]], which is simply 'Igor', the assistant to Victor Frankenstein, spelled backwards.

He was the eighth troll introduced and the second troll introduced in [[Vast Error: Act 2|Act 2]]. He was also the tenth troll to enter the game.

Occeus also stars in his own route in ''[[Snowbound Blood]]'', being the only troll of the main 12 to be featured in the [[Trollodex]].

Occeus likely comes from Oculus, the Latin word for eye, befitting of his mutation.

Coliad likely comes from Coliadinae, a subfamily of butterflies also known as sulphurs, which matches his alchemical sigil.

Occeus’s life pre-game is fairly unknown. However, it is vaguely known that when Occeus was 7 sweeps old he suffered from a major traumatic event which gave him Transmuted Epiphysis Cerebri (Third Eye). Soon after this [[Ellsee Raines]] found him and presumably passed her blood curse onto him in order to revive him, then taking care of him as he was recovering from the injury and adjusting to the side effects of his third eye. While Occeus's conversation with his denizen is not shown, it is referred to by Occeus in later messages to Ellsee. In the end he resolves to reunite with Ellsee and apologies again, telling her he loves her before ending the chatlog. In the illustrations for these pages, Occeus is seen entering a manor on his planet, getting caught in a trap and fighting off a horde of enemies. Afterwards, he begins to visualize all of the people he knows as mannequins in a white void, he approaches, speaks to, and hugs the Ellsee mannequin, before noticing black droplets falling onto him. == Personality and traits ==
As a scientist and engineer, Occeus is characterized by his empirical outlook on life and how it works. He is ambitious, yet detached, and fiercely dedicated to his work, seeming to doubt himself outside of it.

He works towards the continued survival of his decaying planet and towards undoing the parasitic undead plague that ravages its population in the hope that he can return souls from a supposed entropy, and find the secret of untethered immortality. His visor is made specifically to cover up his third eye that formed after a major traumatic incident in his past. This third eye allows him to momentarily see into alternate dimensions, seeing vague figures and apparitions out of his peripheral vision. He sees more when he makes a conscious effort to contact the dimensions directly. He can also constantly hear the low buzzing of [[The Static|static]] in the back of his mind, but it doesn't bother him so long as he doesn't think about it. Occeus states that he does not understand other people, nor does he feel that they understand him<ref>https://www.deconreconstruction.com/vasterror/1814</ref>, feeling painfully aware of his inability to help people outside of his work as well as do anything aside from what he's been instructed to. [[Rogi]] is Occeus' assistant in his scientific pursuits. The creature was the result of one of Occeus' failed experiments, and is consequently unintelligent and largely useless as a result. However, Occeus doesn't seem to mind so much, and keeps the creature around to help with the grizzlier, more menial parts of his experiments, or perhaps because he appreciates the creature's company.

Due to the unnatural circumstances of Rogi's existence, Rogi's body is unable to maintain itself and requires regular injection of lime blood to continue existing.

=== Ellsee Raines ===
[[Ellsee Raines|Ellsee]] and Occeus are [[Quadrants|matesprits]], and unique to the other relationships in the cast aside from [[Murrit Turkin|Murrit]] and [[Dismas Mersiv|Dismas]] and [[Serpaz Helilo|Serpaz]] and [[Laivan Ferroo|Laivan]], have been [[Troll#Bonding|bonded]] with one another.

Due to Occeus' workaholic nature and his desperation to preserve his planet, Occeus is unfortunately rather neglectful of Ellsee, leaving her to suffer from symptoms not unlike withdrawal in his absence (as is the case for Repitonian trolls who have been intimate with another and do not see each other for extended periods of time). Occeus regrets this, and realizes that Ellsee deserves better, but has nonetheless prioritized his work over her, until he was fired by [[Hamifi Hekrix|Hamifi]] and entering the game, where he apologizes in monologue form.

In this monologue, Occeus references past events in which [[Ellsee Raines|Ellsee]] breaks her code of conduct to save and care for him.

Ellsee often volunteers the use of her lime blood for Occeus to use in his biological experiments, due to the blood's unique life-bearing properties. Occeus is the only troll that Ellsee trusts with her blood.

He is incredibly protective of Ellsee, as evidenced in his ''Snowbound Blood'' route when he tells Secily {{VE Quote|occeus|Then eye will either kill f.o.r her .o.r die f.o.r her right t.o. be free}} when Secily confronts him about the vials of blood.

It has been shown that Occeus and [[Calder Kerian|Calder]] had a -- now-ended—pale relationship with one another. From Calder's account, it appears that Occeus abruptly ended their relationship and has been distant from Calder for some time. Calder is visibly bitter about it.

* 'macabre' in his trolltag is a reference to his interest in most things relating to death, such as his reanimation experiments, his study of parasites, and his ultimate goal of trying to 'reanimate' the planet. 'Exude' could be a reference to his normal methods of injecting lime blood into corpses, due to its meaning of a slow and steady discharge. Altogether, the tag can refer to his disturbing presence as a whole.
* The '.o.' shape replacing any 'o's in his text is a reference to his three-eyed state, with the two periods being his regular eyes and the 'o' representing his third eye. This places more emphasis on his third eye as opposed to his two regular eyes which could be a way of showing how Occeus is neglecting the mundane things around him in favor of pursuing mysteries and his work.
* The pupil of his Third Eye bears a striking resemblance to that of [[Gaiaeon]]. It is unknown what exactly this means or if they share any sort of connection.
